The Bay County school district took a leap forward in 2008 to a state ranking of 16, putting Bay County schools in the top 25 percent of all public school districts in Florida.
Public education leaders cite the Bay County school district as one that serves as a model in many arenas. Successes range from programs designed to improve student achievement, to award-winning business partnerships and volunteer programs, and to technology advances that give students and teachers an edge in the classroom and support effective teaching and learning.
Public schools in Bay County serve approximately 28,500 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. In addition, adult education classes offer high school completion programs, employee training for local businesses, and technical trade certification. Beacon Learning Center offers instructional resources for teachers, parents, and students through the Internet.
There are 67 county school districts in Florida. Bay District is a mid-size district and is ranked number 16 in the Florida Department of Education Public Schools Membership Report. All regular K-12 schools are fully accredited by the Florida Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
